Barriers

This documentary was produced by participants in the Free Film School Project. At the end of the workshops, participants made a documentary named “Barriers” that explored the barriers black filmmakers face entering the Canadian film industry; for this, participants not only fully produced the documentary, but also got the chance to interview first-hand aspiring and well established black filmmakers in the province.

Barriers

Two Part Round

This short mockumentary explores a series of weird events happening at New Glasgow Academy.

Drumming Circle

This documentary follows drummer Amara Kante and his drumming group as they prepare for a performance at the Halifax African Heritage Festival.

A Celebration of Service

This documentary follows actors as they prepare to reenact a church service that took place in Amherst, Nova Scotia, back in 1930. The intention behind this service was to honor the black men who were part the #2 Construction Battalion, during the World War II. The CMML and iMOVe, were able to take participants to Amherst for this shoot in addition to providing all the necessary equipment for it.
